- In 2022, AMD 445.7 billion was spent on the government debt payments (principal and interest). Principal payments and interest costs of the internal debt accounted for the 61.4% of the total spending and external government debt payments accounted for 36.5%.
- In 2022, AMD 198.3 billion was spent on the interest costs on the government debt which is 9.7% or AMD 17.5 billion more than in 2021 and AMD 247.4 billion was spent on the principal payments, 5.2% or AMD 13.6 billion less than in 2021.
The main components of the government’s internal debt are treasury bonds and foreign currency bonds purchased by RA residents.
The main components of the government’s external debt are foreign loans and borrowings, treasury bonds and foreign currency bonds purchased by non-residents.
