- On 2 September the Council of the EU approved temporary trade liberalisation measures for Armenian products. The European Parliament will consider the matter during its coming session. If it gives its approval, most Armenian goods will be exempt from EU import duties for two years.
- As part of the protection of the EU market, a tariff quota will apply to a number of product categories, in particular fruits and berries. Exports above the quota will be subject to the ordinary rates that were in force before the temporary liberalisation.
- Our research shows that in many cases these quotas are considerably lower than Armenia’s 2025 export figures for the products concerned. For plums the quota is 13% of exports, and for apricots 16%
