In recent years, Chinese state-owned enterprises have become involved in several major infrastructure projects in Armenia

  • In 2024, construction began on the new 8th pavillion of the Public Television Company in Yerevan, supported by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
  • In 2023, following a 30-year hiatus, construction of the Kaps Reservoir in the Shirak region resumed, implemented by the Chinese state-owned enterprise Shanxi Construction Investment Group Co.
  • Between 2023 and 2024, Armenia’s first industrial-scale solar power plant, Masrik-1, was constructed in the Gegharkunik region. The project was contracted to the Chinese state-owned company CMEK, with construction carried out by the Armenian company Shtigen.
  • Chinese contractors are also participating in the construction of the North-South Road Corridor. Specifically, the reconstruction of Tranche 3—the Talin-Gyumri section—was carried out by the Chinese state-owned company Sinohydro Corporation LLC.
